Steeltown
A top performance from one of my favourite bands, Big Country. A tour dedicated to their Steeltown LP from 1984. Tonight's set was at Keele University, where Tuttle Jnr conveniently works. I thought it would never see them again after I last saw them over 30 years ago in Leeds (their original singer, Stuart Adamson, tragically took his own life in 2001). Only Bruce Watson is the original member left now though his son has become heavily involved with the band on guitars in recent years. Also on guitars and lead vocals was Tommie Paxton, from Restless Natives, who who has an uncanny resemblance, both vocally & visually, to Stuart Adamson. It was strange looking at the rest of the crowd being of a similar age to myself plus some a tad older, but also quite a few much younger fans appreciating all things BC. The picture was taken during their classic song Chance which the crowd always belts out the chorus "Oh Lord....."
The Alarm's Mike Peters provided the support. Happy days.
Must spend the rest of tomorrow regaining my own vocal chords before going back to work on Monday!
