Going underground
The best part of our day exploring Llandudno and the Great Orme was a visit to the Bronze Age Copper Mines, a self-guided tour that took us underground in mines which were the major copper producers in Bronze Age Britain. It includes a chamber which was mined 3500 years ago and is probably the largest prehistoric excavation in the world. And to think that in 1987 the site - which was considered just a general rocky mess following further excavation in Victorian times - was nearly developed as a car park!
