Jacob Collier
What a day.
Four hours in the Prado, Goya and his black paintings, Room 61A was a new discovery (Cutanda et al, modernism) that alabaster veil, Saturn and his dreadful diet, just so much to rejoice and cringe at. Particularly the Bourbon chin.
We had a rest for about 5 minutes and then we were back to meet the incredible, energetic, renaissance Jacob Collier. We thought we were going to a sound check, but in he bounced and drew us in to his life for half an hour. I will be thinking of the other questions I should have asked for a long time now. But I did get a few minutes with him and yes he answered all of the following correctly. Brahms or Liszt? Debussy or Chopin? Stones or Beatles?
And then the concert, which was huge and joyful and we all sang at the tops of our voices. We were still singing in the bus queue.
