Day 23
Or Donkey Hote
We had to pack up the tent quickly, we saw a rain front coming in over Lake Ohau. We got on the road quickly, before breakfast, then had the first stop at the Wrinkly Rams cafe in Omarama. We had a coffee, but decided to carry on to Lake Benmore to cook our own breakfast.
Mr S did some fishing nearby, but no luck. The next stop was Oamaru. At the old buildings at the front, and the gardens, very pretty. We then headed north, straight through to stay with Mr S’s cousin in Geraldine. They built a new eco friendly house on their land since we came 5 years ago. Lovely to catch up and chat, and meet the dog, May that we hadn’t met before.
The donkey and 3 alpacas are still happily living up there.
