Border Reivers

Rumour has it that Mr Ps ancestors were Border Reivers. Basically, families on both sides of the England  /  Scotland Border went back and forth stealing cattle in the 15/1600s.   I attended a talk to find out more and sure enough , there they are- the Irvings - on the left of the map in Scotland between between Maxwells and Johnstones.  I've traced Mr P's Irvings  ( His Mum was Annie Irving) back to the 1700s in Carlisle so it looks like some actually settled in England. He's delighted to know he's got Scottish blood
