At last the beech trees are turning. We used to have a very large beech tree at our gate, belonging to next door. A few years ago it developed a huge fungus at its base and was declared dangerous, so it had to come down. N didn’t mind, fewer leaves to sweep up. This morning I noticed that there is a collection of fungi all around the remaining stump of the tree, the same variety, very large.
In contrast with yesterday, the sun has been shining today and it was a pleasure to be outside. I wish I was fit enough to go for a walk in the beech woods.
