Souter Lighthouse

Apologies, but this is actually a photo from yesterday's trip to the NE. I wanted a record of our visit on my blip journal, even if it is on the wrong day.

Before heading into Newcastle, we went to the coast and had a short walk from Whitburn to the beach at Marsden Bay. It's a stretch of coastline we've never been to before, and even on a dismal day, it was impressively rugged with cliffs and sea stacks and a pub in a cave. Souter lighthouse was the first one in the UK, designed and built to be powered by electricity. After a coffee in the National Trust cafe, we headed into Newcastle to meet up with our younger son. A very enjoyable day.

Today was spent doing the chores, washing, ironing, and packing up more books to go to WeBuyBooks. In the last couple of weeks a lot of books have left this house although you wouldn't know it if you look at the shelves. I suppose they are no longer stacked two deep, and we have been able to eat out on the proceeds. So, progress, I guess!
