Smoketree Leaf

According to my app this bushy shrub can be known by more than ten names. This particular tree is quite low growing and has got itself caught among the vegetation growing at the side of the pond in Maxwell Park.

The Shrub is native to Southern Europe and Central China where the leaves are used as important autumnal decorations .... who could resist that bright red colour.

..... so how did this rather exotic tree come to be growing at the side of the Maxwell Park pond?
