Bending the rules...
This is a photo from our walk at Bortons Pond yesterday. I haven't taken any pictures today, except just now when I thought I'd grab a Bean EB. First she was reluctant to stick her head out of her blanket, and then she came out at full speed, blankets flying, as she pelted out of the door, which resulted in a stream of blurred photos.
So instead, here are some Californian Poppies growing on the gravel bund between the Pond and the Waitaki River. They are abundant here and were looking especially cheerful as we walked.
The structure mid-picture is the gate which lets water into the pond from the river. And Mount Dommet is just visible beyond it: still a little snow-splattered.
The reason for the lack of photos today is that my annual exam supervision work started this morning.
As usual there were several things to iron out before and during the first exam, including breaking in a new helper and reminding the candidates (repeatedly) of how everything works.
After I'd finished the exam stuff for the day I had a few things to do in town, then came home to catch up with the essentials here. And suddenly it's late afternoon...
I'll maybe catch up with Blips and comments this evening. And hopefully no idiots will set off any fireworks after dark in the village. Bean doesn't get too agitated, but the horses over the road went crazy last year.
