Wind Surf

Driving along the shore road we noticed, out to sea, a five-masted ship towed by two tugs - naturally we had to see more so went to the best viewpoint close by, the top of Ocean Terminal shoppers carpark.

From here we watched the cruise ship Wind Surf enter the lock, the tugboats Fidra and Oxcar manoeuvre her through the harbour and align her with the dock.

The Wind Surf was built in 1990 as the Club Med 1. and extensively renovated in 1998 and 2000. She is registered in Nassau, carries (on her 7 decks) 308 guests and 163 crew, she can reach 10 to 12 knots with engines only, her 5 masts of 164 ft/50m with their computerised sails assist her up to 15 knots.
