Heading Home
Lucky enough to be sitting by a window and above a wing, I couldn't resist snapping away at Funchal airport. This timed series of shots show us before and after take-off, and heading north across the Atlantic with the setting sun reflecting the Jet2 logo on the wing. Our flight was a little delayed, but no worries: it was a smooth journey and our son-in-law kindly collected us and drove us home.
I piled on layers before we left the plane and was amazed at the number of people who seemed happy to arrive late in the evening to the cold, damp east midlands, UK, wearing shorts and short sleeves. Doubtless the one thing we have in common is the desire to bring warm sunshine home with us. But that's not going to happen in November.
My Extra I took in the hotel grounds before we were picked up in a mini-bus on the airport run. It looks like a flower designed and drawn by a little child, but apparently it's a bromeliad. Isn't it beautiful?!
