A Trip to London
An early start for the 7:20 am train into London from Sherborne meant that we arrived in London and walked straight to the National Gallery where we had booked for the Van Gogh Exhibition . We skipped the queues and went for a much needed coffee first .
The exhibition was excellent and complemented what we had seen in Amsterdam in the Summer . It still moved us to tears .
We had a Quick Look at the Constable section on the Haywain as well as some of the Impressionist paintings .
After a cake for sustenance, we walked along the Strand down to the river where we caught a 2 hours round trip to Greenwich . Bliss - to sit down !!
The views were brilliant especially in the muted sunlight with a witty commentary by the crew .
As it was growing dark so we went up to Covent Garden and had a mooch . Finally , back to Waterloo for a meal .
A perfect day out for P’s birthday !
