Roamin' in the gloamin'
A very early rise this morning to secure my Tesco Christmas delivery slot. Alarm set for 5.45am (slots available from 6pm for delivery saver customers) and despite being informed there was an hour long queue, I was on and slots secured by 6.20am.
It's not the panic it used to be as it's only really for extras and some party food. I am spoiled by having two amazing butchers on our High Street so order all my meat from them.
At 9am I was on the phone to my dental practice as a bottom left molar has been quite sensitive all weekend and I felt part of the filling had disintegrated. Got an emergency appointment for 4.10pm. Snapped Stirling Castle from the car as we passed. My dentist is on maternity leave so saw another one. He has patched up my filling and taken an x-ray of the tooth. No decay so hoping the patch up works. I have a follow up appointment on 22nd January (day after my birthday!) at 2.30pm. And yes I did crack the tooth-hurty joke to the receptionist. D groaned. Blooming' cheek given the daily nonsense he spouts! :-))
As my head was in Christmas food mode, I spent most of the day and this evening deciding on Christmas menus.
We're going out with friends for lunch on Christmas Eve so no need to worry about dinner that evening. Christmas Day I think we will have King prawns either as prawn gambas or I might go down the retro road and make a proper 1970s prawn cocktail. Roasted rack of lamb with herb crust, homemade Dauphinoise potatoes, Dijon mustard glazed carrots and minted garden peas. Not decided on dessert yet, maybe strawberry pavlova.
Watched GBBO. Delighted by who was sent home as they have annoyed me so much since week 1!
New series of Shetland starts tomorrow night. Can't wait! :-)
Oh, and apart from a slightly tender arm, I feel absolutely fine after my flu and Covid shots :-)
