Everyday I Write The Book

Putting on a brave face

or nine.

Very glad to have a few non drinking days now, although last night wasn’t too bad. Am going to meet Strider in Kent next Tuesday, which will be a pub crawl. Will try going alcohol free until then.

No energy today. The sky was an opaque grey and it is suddenly colder.  It feels like a hungover Sunday when the clocks have stopped.

Did however cook creatively and improvised a lentil meatloaf and a cauliflower and butter bean mash.

Got my new passport in the post today. I look so miserable.

I have just finished reading Orbital by Samantha Harvey which I think is excellent. My fellow book club members have polarised views ranging from ‘superb ‘ to ‘indescribably dull’. For me it painted a picture rather than told a story. Or told the story that there is no story, just things happening and passing out of memory and that life is both insignificant and majestic.

The Dizzle and Ms R have been to the hospital today for routine antenatal and all is well. It is definitely a girl, no error there, vital signs all checked out, shape and size as should be. She floats in her mother’s womb just like the characters in Orbital float in their space station, weightless, with several weeks still until she enters the earth’s atmosphere. For her the mother ship really is the mother ship.

I think I look better in black and white…
