A day in the life

Time's up

Another student came to see me this morning, it's unusual that they come during the same week but it's the first time for both of them this autumn. For years I regularly see two students, they call me when they want some help, usually a couple of weeks in between our meetings. Then we spend a couple of hours together in a sort of improvised session with an open end time. Great fun and I get to play music I normally don't play.

The evening was spent at the Folk-highschool close by. One of the courses is a drama-school and they had a guest teacher during the week, working with improvisation. He, the teacher, did a performance based on what we, the audience came up with by looking through some of todays newspapers. We were told to find a heading for some news, that we wanted him to improvise around. The form was a "News-hour" on the tele where he was the announcer acting the news we gave him. To give it some form, he devided the hour into headings like "Sports", "Drama", "Dance", "Musical" and so on. We gave him a heading and he made it into improvised theatre using the headings and his imagination. I found it unexpectedly interesting, he was very clever and obviously had performed this idea many times.

I won't even comment on the election in one of the countries out west, I'm sure you already heard something about it.
