It’s not the best of days to be honest. Of course, there’s the feeling of disappointment and disbelief that Trump has actually been elected which hovers over everything. I can’t even bring myself to watch any news coverage. 

Then it’s another ‘Moviprep’ day in preparation for tomorrow’s repeat colonoscopy. It’s exactly a month since I last went through the process and it doesn’t improve with familiarity! We have arranged for a friend to come over for a meal while she helps us with some rudimentary Japanese in preparation for our forthcoming trip, and whilst it’s clearly not ideal under the circumstances, we really don’t have any other available dates for a postponement. Needless to say, my attention - and often my presence - is elsewhere! And of course, I can’t eat anything either! 

So the best that I can offer today is a white passion flower, spotted on my short morning walk up the hill. I love the intricacies of these flowers, perfect in their complexity and set against the simplicity and purity of white.
