Forgive me
Up at normal time but had to head to Manchester today.
Engineering works meant that there was a bus replacement service from Neath to Port Talbot Parkway. When we got to the station, it was absolutely rammed. And when the train did arrive, it was only 5 coaches not the expected 10 coaches. Luckily I managed to get a seat.
We were then 4 minutes late leaving the station, which automatically increases my stress levels as my transfer time at Bristol Parkway is only 11 minutes. We maintained the 4 minute delay to Newport, but was then sat on the platform for 20 minutes as the train in front had problems. So, by the time I get to Bristol I had completely missed my connection and now there was no direct train to Manchester till much later.
After frantically checking my train app, I worked out that I could get to Birmingham and then have a 6 minute transfer to catch a train to Manchester. And thankfully I could use the same ticket I had already bought all the way through. So that is what I did, and arrived in Manchester over an hour late.
Got to the office and then our plans had changed. We entered into a conversation, which was very difficult and there were plenty of emotions on show. It was a tough experience. I was emotionally drained.
With no need to stay in Salford then, I changed my plans and headed to London a day early. But before I had even got on the train at Manchester, we were already 15 minutes late. Why is train travel so painful?
Got into Paddington to my hotel and immediately headed out to a curry house. It was such a tough day I decided to break my rule on alcohol and had a beer with my curry. So, please forgive me.
I think I shall sleep well tonight.
Today I am thankful for:
1. A process being sorted
2. A delicious curry and beer
