Forecourt
Here I am on a garage forecourt early on a Sunday morning, waiting for a delayed colleague and purchasing snacks for my next work trip. We set off eventually and made surprising progress, reaching Tunduru in southern Tanzania after about ten hours of driving.
The Indian Ocean coastline was roasting as we skirted it due south from Dar es Salaam. Whenever the windows were down or we had to step out of the car, it was like being inside a furnace. Apart from a troop of vervet monkeys crossing the road, the journey was quite uneventful except for the extreme heat.
