Riding through the tides
Took my "young" group to the Solway coast today for a day's coastal photography - they showed great enthusiasm to go there, but that just might have been the promise of stopping at Wellingtons ice-cream shop on the way back.
Had a great time there, although the incoming tide did fill the gully near the shore pretty fast, and some of them almost needed rescuing - nothing worse then a few wet legs. Worked on the dunes until lunch - and was looking to do a portraiture session after lunch, but suddenly the heavens opened and we were caught about 500 m from the car. By the time I'd got all the doors opened and everyone in - with camera bags piled high - I might as well have stood in a shower fully clothed - NEVER before have I managed to get a group so comprehensively soaked to the skin!
We dried off in the sun in Allonby (only 3 miles down the coast!) and did manage both the ice cream stop, and an impromptu portrait session in the car park.
Finished up with a long evening of photo critique, you tube requests, Simons Cat films and a movie - late night for all, bad influence by me :)
Hope they all come back next year, it was a privilege to have them all visit. I think they all learnt a lot, and know they all laughed a lot too!
