The Dalswinton Steamboat

In 1785 a small twin hulled pleasure boat with hand cranked paddles sailed on Dalswinton Loch. The owner Patrick Miller was persuaded by a friend to add a steam engine - designed by William Symington and in 1788 the first steam powered boat was launched.
Two hundred years later David Landale the then owner of Dalswinton Estate decided that a life size replica would be appropriate to commemorate this historic achievement.
