On the 7th May I blipped this tree and at last we found somebody who could identify it. Called Elephant apple or Dilleniia indica. Native to Indonesia, spread to India,Sri Lanka, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and definitely S Africa! The fruit is edible, chutney can also be made of it.
