Leaf on Wet Bench

This is the time of year when we notice leaves in their own right, rather than as parts of a tree.

It's almost as if, once their main purpose is done, they make a last colourful effort to gain attention. It's then that we take more notice of their shapes, colours, sounds and structure as individuals. We look at the trees they were once a proud part of and notice their absence.

Maybe it's worth taking note of them sooner. Let's start next spring.
