Walked for miles
Before meeting up with our friends we walked for 'miles'. Along the beautiful old High Street (one beautiful classy and original Independent shop after another - who said High Streets are dying? Tunbridge Wells shows the way!).
Once we thought we'd done the shops, we turned right at the station and found loads more. Walked as far as M&S in Victoria Place shopping centre to buy a good Prosecco for our friends who are marrying in Calcutta (their home town) in December.
Walked back via some lovely back streets, full of Georgian, also Victorian and Edwardian architecture. Outstanding houses everywhere, well maintained too. No drug addicts, beggars, anti-social behaviour either.
A & S came to fetch us and drove us back to their new house 10mns drive outside Tunbridge Wells. Backs onto woodland. So after a tour of the house, and a catch-up, we had a lovely walk through the woods. Then an exquisite Indian meal which 'S' must have spent ages preparing.
Back to hotel to find there had been a power outage and we'd had been upgraded to a Suite in the new section. Absolutely beautiful. But there is always a but - since our return at 8pm we can hear non-stop loud Boom Boom from a party 5 floors down. There is nothing they can do "as the 'girl has paid £000s for her party!"
This is the 3rd time we have had this in a British hotel. It is so so annoying, and one of the reasons I prefer to-stay home!
