Apple/Orchard Season Almost Over

It used to be that we would fight the crowds on several October weekends to get cider and donuts. This year we went just once, when we went to the tractor show.

It used to be that I would have to search several orchards before I could find Northern Spys...to bake my pies. My record for an apple season was baking 57 pies. It cost a lot of dough...just to make the dough. This year...how many apple pies baked? Zero, zilch, nada.

It used to be that I just had to have an apple peeler 'cuz that was a lot of apples to skin. Now I just use a paring knife.

It used to be that I had to have Spys,
it was the only apple I'd bake with.
Now, I'm too cheap to pay the price,
and I settle for Granny Smith.
