Wound up in Wexford

New door

Our front door and surrounds were very grand, overly ornate, and not fully functional.  The door itself would swell during the winter, becoming difficult to use.  There was a crack in the wood panel on one side.  And the glass was stained and impossible to get clean.

It was very well built, and the guys had quite a fight to get it out.  One of them commented that he'd never had to remove one of this type before, always wanted to, and now would prefer not to have to do another!

Now we have a door that is still quite grand, but much more to our taste.  And fully functional.  There's a bit of cosmetic touching up to do still.  That - hopefully - is the last of the major expenses on this house!

In the evening, we went to a concert in Waterford raising funds to repair the bells in Christ Church Cathedral.  But I've been generous with my cold, and W now has a dose.
