Horace Stanley Bird (1889 - 1968)

This is my maternal grandfather; Grandpop to me.  The photograph was taken on his engagement to marry Maud Willder in 1912.  On the left are his coming and going medals from the first world war during which he served in the Army Cycling Corps on reconnaissance duties near Arras in Northern France.  On the right is his medal from the second world war for his service in the Special Constabulary.
