White Scar Cave

The final day of son R's break with us.  I suggested a tour of White Scar cave near Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales , supposedly England's longest cave system open to tours.  Surprised how many people turned up for the 10:30 tour but when its raining you might as well be inside a cave . It was very interesting . About a km walk to the cavern at the end which was not discovered until the 1970s. The original system was discovered in the 1920s but a massive boulder fall obscured the cavern. Steps and a pathway have been created so that the public don't have to wade along the river in chest high water to get to the final cavern.  Collage in extras. The blue photos are caused by those areas being lit with UV light to avoid algae growth. Can you see the White Witch of White Scar cave??  Well worth a visit.
On the Remembrance Day theme we bumped into two splendidly dressed Cub Scouts with all their badges, in a cafe in Ingleton , getting a hot drink after a parade in the drizzle.
And RIP great Uncle Jimmy  who died in the mud in WWII in Italy.  The family do not forget you.
