Remembrance
My blip today is probably like most others and focuses on Remembrance Day. Staff and member of Skegness Youth Centre decided they wanted to be a part of the Remembrance Day commemorations.
I was happy to support this and shared with the youngsters that although I lived in Nottinghamshire as a child, I had in fact been part of the Skegness Remembrance Day commemorations twice before. I was actually a St John Ambulance member from Pyehill and New Selson Group who were funded by the miners from those pits, so we could be at the pits if anything disastrous happened. Luckily nothing ever did when I was a member. We used to stay at the 'Derbyshire Miners' home in Winthorpe for the weekend and join the parade on Remembrance Sunday. I was so proud to be back there again today. I would never had thought all those years ago that I would be back there again supporting the local youth.
