Rocks and woods

Just some 15 minutes from Sweetheart's  home is a 1 kms trail of E10 leading through woods and crossing a slope ~ I do walk here occasionally again and always make some walks here whenever on Crete.

A century ago this area was woodland with pinetrees and close to the spot I photographed was a sanatorium built (what's now a residence for the disabled) where patients with resporatory diseases were treated; like Greece's poet Yannis Ritsos, was nursed here for 2 years (1929-1931) for his tuberculosis. 

The weekend was quiet, today we had the daughter of Sweetheart's koumbaros here at ours and when home I did read the news in my dutch newspaper on line... all news from the larger world is most worrying, but also from inside the Netherlands where Geert Wilders in the crisis handling with Israel, brought the government's "Jekyll-and-Hyde" diplomacy to a climax
