Rememberence
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
I was so proud of I today. She is such a shy girl but she was asked to carry the Brownie Unit flag at the Remembrance Service and Parade today and she did a great job despite being so far out of her comfort zone. She had to parade into the very busy church and sit separately to us. She then lead the Brownies in the parade to the war memorial and stood at the front with the other flag bearers. It was such a moving service. There were two WW2 veterans there, aged 98 and 99. The speaker said that the population of our town during WW1 was 1500 people (it's now 20,000 people). Of those 1500 people 200 went to war, and 46 lost their lives. It must have been such a huge loss. They did a roll call of all those lost in all the wars and B and many of the other Brownies and Scouts took up wooden crosses to mark each life.
Added an extra taken by the official photographer.
