The woes of the City of Edinburgh Council
A sad irony:
Edinburgh Council does not install wheelie bins in many streets of the New Town in the belief that it ruins the prestige of the World Heritage Site. Yet at the same time they drop the bin men's wages, prompting a slow down that results in scenes like the above.
In other words it's so concerned with placating the upper echelons of society that it neglects the less palatable essentials that allow it to function - like waste disposal. Or dare I say it, transport.
The result is a streetscape where ancient monuments and imposing Georgian mansions sit alongside all of society's trash. Rather poetic but it certainly aint pretty!
Ok, socialist rant over. Time for bed.
