Blocking the Towpath
We had a gentle walk this morning, along the canal to where a new bridge is being built to widen the road, where the current bridge is not wide enough for two cars to pass. Just passed the bridge this family of swans were dominating the towpath. We saw one woman retreat, rather than try to pass them. The cygnets are losing their grey plumage and though they seemed fairly docile, we also headed back to take a different path.
In the afternoon we visited L's sister, where her youngest son was up from Devon to say a farewell as he is flying off to New Zealand with his girlfriend later this week. They hope to find work and enjoy the country for a year, visiting all regions. They have a wanderlust that needs to be satisfied.
