Well Caught Hector!
Today, we decided at 12.0 o'clock to head north, so we took our lunch with us and set off to Golspie in Sutherland. We proposed to do a walk along the coast from Golspie, past Dunrobin Castle and see how far the track would take us. But first things first, we decided to stop at The Mound ( a local nature reserve ) for lunch! After eating we went on a look about and spotted salmon jumping in Loch Fleet and loads of various sea birds, but this Heron ( I will call him Hector, a cousin of Hamish's)caught my eye. He caught this Flounder in the large shallow pool and took it to the sandy shore where he tossed it round in his bill so he could swallow it head first, ( that way the barbs don't catch in his throat), then he swallowed it whole. He proceeded to wash his bill in the water two or three times, then when satisfied he walked back to the centre of the pool searching for the next morsel. I found it fascinating!
We then headed for Golspie and our walk, which was most enjoyable!
