Where did all the deliveries go?

It was my third day on labour ward and I still haven't seen a normal delivery- I don't know where all these mothers have gone! I spent the day reading, I'm so glad i brought my Kindle with me.
The doctors keep telling me to go to the government hospital, apparently they average at 50 per day (not including assisted and surgical deliveries) - it sounds like chaos.
Nothing eventful has gone on today, so today's blip is a cockerel that I pass every day, he's always scratching in the same pile of rubbish at the side of the road.
