Heightened reality
What it means to me is the presentation of something as if it were real, when it’s not quite real. In this case a treated photograph. (Super contrast.) I’ve been told that my novella is heightened reality, as it is a picture of a community that’s not quite real, but is still believable. The term certainly applies to this picture of the River Ness in Inverness.
