Remembrance
Photo from the book ‘ De Verre Oorlog’ by N. Beets. We think the blond boy sitting next to the sailor holding a gun is our father, who would have been almost 12 when the sailors of HM’s Cumberland took over guarding the Tjideng concentration camp on the Indonesian island of Java from the Japanese soldiers. By that time the women and children in that camp had already been able to gain some weight after years of not having had enough food. War is horrible!
For today’s MonoMonday theme of ‘remembrance ‘ with thanks to jensphotos for hosting this month.
Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday’s Blip.
