I was up and away for my flu jab appointment. PY's time at the same place was 40 minutes earlier than mine, so he was ahead of me. As I was walking towards New Malden, he called to tell me that Boots was cancelling appointments because there was no pharmacist, so I should turn around. It's the second appointment they have cancelled for me this season. When I got home, I tried to rebook but failed.

Just after 10 am, PY went to Waitrose to pick up food and drink for tonight's dinner party. When I'd finished my coffee, I followed, stopping to drop off some coffee pods for return to the recycling place. It seems my labels are no longer valid, and Costcutter couldn't accept my parcel, so I had to carry it around with me. I walked past Barkers' chemist and saw a small notice saying they were taking bookings for flu jabs. As I could not find anything else, I went to book one. Not more than ten minutes later, I met PY in the supermarket and could say I'd had the vaccination. Nobody else was waiting in the chemist; they could do it there and then. It's so much easier than the big chemists' booking systems.

After we'd collected the shopping and cleaned the house, by 2 pm, we were standing outside the Burlington Arcade on Piccadilly, where we were meeting friends to see the 007 exhibition celebrating 60 Years of Goldfinger. Disappointingly, they'd removed the golden cars suspended from the arcade's ceiling and replaced them with Christmas decorations. Inside, it was less of an exhibition than expected and more of a cocktail bar. Three of the others had The Oddjob cocktail (rum, soda, lime juice, Angostura bitters); Rob went for The M (Macallan Double Cask 12 years old, honey syrup, finished with orange zest), and I tried The Goldeneye (rum, pineapple juice, lemon wedge, shaken and served over ice with fresh pineapple). £24/5 meant we only had one drink each. They were lovely. If you worked there, you'd have to like the Bond themes.

We parted ways for a few hours until around 7 pm, and they were all back at ours for dinner. We had a lovely evening that went on until the early hours. The food that PY made was delicious, and we drank more than we should have. The bottles will be clinking in Monday's recycling box.
