Red Berries and Brown Leaves

After yesterdays Remembrance commemoration it was the turn of the Armistice today. A short ceremony in the Eastgate Shopping Mall with the exhortation, the Last Post playing, 2 minute silence, Kohima Epitaph and then the "Parade Dismiss"
It was a good turnout by the RBL and a couple of dignitaries, plus a crowd of the public. Not sure they knew it was happening, they may have been shopping and joined in to observe the national silence, but their support was greatly appreciated.
The photographs were taken after dropping the girls at school. They had a coach trip to Westonbirt Arboretum where they spent the whole day, and back to school in time for normal pick up time.
I was told that one lady asked the question, "What do badgers eat?" and Hetty correctly answered 'Worms', clever Hetty XX  They eat other things too but that was a great answer for a five year old.

N.B. Just in case anyone doesn't know.
The Exhortation is an excerpt from the Robert Laurence Binyon poem 'For The Fallen'
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We WILL remember them.

The Kohima Epitaph
This is inscribed on a monument commemorating the Battle of Kohima where 1,400 British and over 900 Indian troops perished in an intense and bloody battle lasting a fortnight until they were relieved. The battle continued for another month stopping the Japanese invasion of India, and turning the tide of the battle against the Japanese in South East Asia.
The inscription reads;
"When you go home tell them of us and say,
For your tomorrow, We gave out today".

At each of our (RBL Riders Branch) monthly meetings, in Gloucestershire, these are spoken by the County Rep (currently me) with a one minute silence in between.
