Diary of an Edinburgher

Popped back over to Copenhagen?

No, it's a wee bar in Tolcross! It's one we've been meaning to go to for ages, and we were suitably impressed - big leather couches, fat cushions, candles, nice menu and very low, non screechy music. Loved it. And the girls posed for me, only slightly reluctantly. We got the biggest amount of olives I've ever had as a menu item. With toasted ciabatta and greens with a nice dressing on. I do like finding new places that are worth returning to.

At one point a whole lot of police came in and asked to look out the back (the bar has a 'garden bar'). They must have been looking for a criminal. Or maybe just checking out the pub for after work...

We'd just been to the afternoon movie - it being a lovely cool, drizzly, mizzly day - ideal. There were four of us there in the whole big cinema - I LOVE that! No popcorn munchers nearby. An excellent film too - Breathe In, with the most amazing score, mostly classical music (the main protagonist was a cellist).

Uncle A has had his operation and I've just rung the ward. I rang the ward about an hour ago and he was still in the recovery ward. Now he's sitting up and has asked for toast!

A good film, a good new pub find, and Uncle A sprightly after his op. Not bad for a day's work.
