St Ninians

St Ninians was originally a deep pit coal mine and later continued as an open-cast mine.

After it closed there was a scheme (The Fife Earth Project) in 2009 to create landscape art on the site but sadly, funding ran out before it could be completed.  Today artwork can be seen on top of one of the bings.
Part of it is a 'guard of honour' formed by paired old machinery parts.  There are also three mounds, each topped by three stacked giant tyres and each with a tree growing within.  That can be seen from miles away as in my blip from January 2022:

My blip is of the rusting machinery parts which, of course, I have presented in an artistic way.
