Book Club

Monday
I was home this morning, reading more of the book for Book Club this afternoon. I still didn’t quite finish it - I fell behind with my reading this month. We were at Nancy’s this month, and I loved the Book Club napkins she had found and put out with our refreshments! It doesn’t exactly fit our book club, being a group of “mature” ladies but we all found it funny. Being an afternoon group, all we drink is usually tea, coffee or water or lemonade.
We don’t overindulge on refreshments, and after the usual prelimary chatting, and a bit at the end, we do usually spend most of the time discussing the book! Everyone had enjoyed the book to some degree and found it very well written. A couple of us found it a bit slow at the beginning, but it gained momentum as you went along. Several of us made the comment we thought it would benefit from reading a second time, as there were so many characters, it was sometimes a job keeping them all straight, and who was connected to who. I really need to keep a notebook beside me when I’m reading to jot notes down!
As Nancy’s is quite close to Pioneer Park, I stopped off there for a walk in the sunshine before returning home. I made us a fish pie for dinner, which I hadn’t done for a while, and which we both enjoyed.
