Down the back road
Are parrots and wrens and baby magpies looking quizzically
Are sunshine and trees and the smell of grass drying
Are memories where farmland and country lanes still hold out against the inexorable encroach of suburbia
Is a shortcut to the shops and that double adaptor I forgot to buy earlier
Is where I go when I’m looking for something
Exercise
A clearer mind
Something to satisfy that vague thing I’m always yearning for -
An unbuilt world, beyond and before the life I’ve built
Here
Up the back road
