Watch the background!

The typical advice given to a novice photographer when photographing their friends and family is to watch out for the background, to make sure that there isn't a telegraph pole growing out of their friend's head. This photographer has chosen, instead, to photograph her friend with a totem pole growing out of her head.

This totem pole is a rather splendidly carved tree trunk in a nearby park. I do not know the history of it, or what the carvings represent, but it is an entertaining feature.
