Anticyclonic Gloom
I have quite enjoyed this period of Anticyclonic Gloom now I have a name for it. Apparently the South East of England hasn’t seen sun since October 28th but we haven’t seen rain or wind either and a weird kind of stillness has prevailed. That said the forecast said it would start to break up around 4pm today and indeed some fifteen minutes after this was taken there was the beginnings of a sunset over the farm. And as night fell we could see the moon.
Today was a peaceful at home day. I cleared the tubs, put some tulips in the ones near the house, trusting the deer wouldn’t come that close. I over planted with violas and Christmas rose hellebores. They will look lovely unless the crows attack them and the squirrels dig them up.
The field is full of Brent geese and the red kites keep swooping low over them.
We lit the first fire of the season and overnight when I got up I could hear rain falling.
