Quizzing
Last Tuesday, I mentioned hedge trimming. They turned up this morning about two hours early. I was in the shower, but PY let them in. They were completed within forty minutes, and we can already tell there is more light to the back decking. As they were finishing, there was a ring on the doorbell. It was the neighbour behind, whose hedge we were technically trimming. I was momentarily worried he would complain, but he asked if they could chop more. They did a little extra but didn't have the ladders to chop from the top. Nice to meet the neighbour, and even better, we've agreed to coordinate next year's pruning.
We had to move the sofa and furniture to give them a clear run from the back of the house to the front. Even though I move the sofa to sweep underneath regularly, it was surprising how different the floor looked when we moved it. I got the mop out.
There's a local (to Wimbledon) email newsletter that has sprung up recently. This morning's edition let me know that the fireworks I went to last week at Wimbledon Park were "the only main capital park to host a fireworks display for Bonfire Night this year." What happened to the others?
After work, we went to quiz night. PY and I arrived first and had an excellent burger before the others joined us. Again, the quiz started with these puzzles. We got a few more correct answers this time, so we're improving. We are still in the middle of the ranking—we cannot compete with our score the first time we did it—much fun.
At home, having a cup of tea before bed, we put on one of those channels showing non-stop Christmas films. We almost stayed for the whole of "Will You Merry Me?" but decided it probably wasn't sufficiently enthralling to keep us up until gone 1 am.
