Craster
This morning Chris picked me up to go to Craster. We agreed we’d not give each other stuff at birthdays and have a treat instead. I asked for a walk by the sea but in addition she booked a table at the Jolly Fisherman for lunch.
We had a stroll towards Dunstanburgh Castle (from the south whereas on Sunday we viewed it from the north.). I couldn’t believe how busy it was midweek, mid-November. A lot of holiday houses are available up here now, and more older people are taking short winter breaks.
The pub has been seriously gentrified and extended since we were last there. It was totally packed. We got a table overlooking the sea which was lovely. Chris had fish cakes and chips and I had a salmon and dill mayo sandwich. They still serve the food on a silly slates though. I asked them to put mine on a plate as the garnish bits fall off slates. It was all very lovely.
While Chris paid I went over to Robsons smokery to get us both some Kipper pate and salmon fish cakes.
We had a lovely time - since she’s stopped going for longer walks we’ve not seen so much of each other on our own so it was really nice to have time together.
