Shiny and new

This was our road surface this morning. It had set, so it wasn't bouncy like a trampoline, but it still looked clean. I think there is still work to be done as there's a steamroller parked at the end of the street.  Autumn leaves have drifted on to the tarmac. 

Who remembers scraping melted tar off the middle of the road on a summer's day? There can't have been much traffic in 1972.
