Giving Up the Ghost?

There are quite a few of these 20 foot tall skeletons still around, for where does one store such an item? We've seen them dressed as Santas, but this is the first time we've seen a supine one doing Pilates!

Following yesterday's rain, we had a lovely, sparkling day today.

Following a visit from Cindy for a tutorial on how to turn on the dishwasher we had a conversation about Hazel's harness.

Following that conversation, we decided to go to Pawsarotti, this morning  where we purchased a harness, custom fitted by the proprietor, a short leash and a new hard rubber ball with a squeaker in it.

They have been working on the intersection out of the parking lot for so long that we turned in the opposite direction just to keep from having to negotiate the traffic cones and random lane changes, and came across a little neighborhood playground with a big grass field . What better place to test out the new harness and ball.We had the place to ourselves and Spike chased the ball until he dropped (extra)

Back home, Spike played happily by himself with his new ball for a couple of hours. We got a big one that won't fit under the couch but can't easily hold it in his mouth so he pushes it with his nose. It rolls across the ever so slightly sloping floor and he chases it down. Over and over....The only drawback is that the squeaker sounds a bit like gunshots....

We are having a hiatus of sorts between the fraught election, the disastrous result and the inauguration. California's elected officials from the governor down are planning their strategies. None is predicting an easy time but all are determined to preserve women's and immigrants' rights, environmental protections and the fifth largest economy in the world.

During my brief read of the paper before Pilates this morning I came across this quote:
Any person capable of angering you becomes your master; he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him.
-- Epictetus, the Stoic philosopher of the first and early second century.
