Fall Fishing
I stopped by Big Elkhart Lake on my way home for a quick Blip this afternoon. I saw a beautiful Belted Kingfisher (Ceyrle alcyon) fly into a lakeside tree close by but by the time I grabbed the camera it was gone...so I had to settle for some fishermen, all bundled up and soaking some minnows for who knows what. The rods are stout enough that they might be soaking some large suckers for Muskelunge...Muskies. By far and large, most muskie fishermen cast baits for them. The muskie is known as the fish of a1000 casts as it often takes that many to get one to bite.

But this time of year, it gets a bit easier as they feed voraciously to fatten up before ice over. They get BIG...the Wisconsin and World record was one caught in 1949 and it was just short of 70 pounds (31.75kg). And they have a mouth full of BIG teeth.
