Hand of peace
Day out to the Arboretum at Alrewas today with Chris and our friend Carole. It was exceptionally busy with coach parties of school children and cadets from the army, navy and RAF. Lovely to see them being so respectful at the various memorials.
The last time we went was about three years ago and there have been quite a few additions in that time.
Chris wanted to put a cross on the memorial of the Royal Logistics Corps so that was our first stop. As we came out and made our way along the path, I saw the 'The Hand at Peace' sculpture.
The inscription encourages people to hold the hand of the statue and to remember those who are no longer with us.... it's certainly had many hands do that over the years. Whilst there are many memorials at the arboretum, I think this one and the 'Shot at Dawn' are the most poignant
